  10. This program is  a DOS shell that hides  the underlying operating
  11. system from the uninitiated user, yet  does not get in the way of
  12. the expert user.  The basic system  consist of up to  one hundred
  13. Menu Files  with ten menu  pages each, and  each page having  ten
  14. selections to choose  from. You start a selection  by pointing to
  15. it with the cursor and pressing  the ENTER key or by pressing the
  16. number  key associated  with that  selection. Each  selection can
  17. start a program, run a batch file, or execute any DOS command.  A
  18. selection can also  have multiple steps which can  include any or
  19. all  of the  possibilities above.  You can  change menu  pages by
  20. pressing the F1 thru F10 keys to go directly to page 1 thru 10 or
  21. use the PgUp and PgDn keys.  Each page and each selection on each
  22. page has a user definable description.

  24. The  slash key  displays a  1-2-3  type  menu at  the top  of the
  25. screen.  The choices  from the  menu include:  Help, Add, Change,
  26. Delete, Move, Page,  Run, Exit, and Quit. If  you select HELP you
  27. are presented with  another menu and screens that  explain how to
  28. use the Menu  System. ADD, CHANGE, DELETE, and  MOVE allow you to
  29. alter the description and action  taken by a Main Menu selection.
  30. PAGE  lets you  change the   description of  a Page  Index entry,
  31. import  pages, and  delete pages.  RUN allows  you to execute any
  32. program, DOS command, or batch  file from within the Menu System.
  33. EXIT returns you  to the DOS prompt and QUIT  erases the Top Menu
  34. and puts  you back in  the Main Menu.  Other commands in  the Top
  35. Menu allow you  to set up macros, passwords,  menu titles, change
  36. colors and window borders,  set mouse sensitivity,  and blank the
  37. menu screen after a set amount of time.

  39. DOS Menu works  by letting DOS run a batch file that contains the
  40. commands from the  selected menu entry.  The batch file  also has
  41. the  instructions to return to the menu when it's done so that no
  42. part of DOS Menu needs  to stay in memory.  This makes all memory
  43. available to your programs.
